Information

The Ribadeo or Eo estuary, which is part of the River Eo, Oscos and Tierras de Burón Biosphere Reserve, is a natural inlet of great ecological and environmental significance, and also the setting for all kinds of nautical and sporting activities. Here you can try, for example, the variety lateen sailing, the only one of its kind on the entire Spanish coastline.

You’ll be fascinated by the beauty of the beaches along the Ribadó coast, and you mustn’t miss Playa de las Catedrales, which is just ten kilometres from the Parador, and which is considered one of the most spectacular in the world. It has been declared a Natural Monument. It is so called due to a set of cliffs more than 32 metres high which, sculpted by the wind and the sea, form arches and vaults through which the sun’s rays pour, creating a marvellous and unique landscape.

Environment

Here you can try the variety of lateen sailing, the only one of its kind on the entire Spanish coastline, which consists of a vertical cut towards the “tack” of the boat.

The historic quarter of Ribadeo is perfect for a day’s shopping, or for going out for tapas and trying the local cuisine.

Among the most unique buildings and spaces are the old Customs House, the castle of San Damián, O Cargadoiro and the Plaza del Campo or España square, the nerve centre of the town.

A visit to Ribadeo beach is a must, but it’s best to visit at low tide, since it is under water at high tide.

During Holy Week and the months of July and August, you must have authorisation to access the beach.

You can obtain this from http://ascatedrais.xunta.es . Guests staying at the Parador de Ribadeo can get their access pass at the Parador reception.

Sailing along our estuary or coast will make for a unique experience Aboard a sailboat, yacht, catamaran or small boat, you can enjoy extraordinary views of the landscape, move at your own pace and disembark wherever you like.

You can hire boats with or without a skipper.
