Information

A new avant-garde façade constitutes the hallmark of this fully redesigned and redecorated building. The external areas have been enhanced with a solarium, terraces and a seasonal pool with unsurpassable views of the Mediterranean Sea. A new panoramic spa and gymnasium have also been built. All architectural barriers have been removed, improving accessibility throughout the Parador.

One of the major new changes to this Parador is the SPA with a view of the Aiguablava cove. The pool, gym, sauna, terraces and outdoor areas have been renovated to enhance our guests’ comfort. The access to the entire complex has been improved. All rooms have been fully renovated and most of them have terraces overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

The rehauling has also created new areas for our guests’ leisure and relaxation. It includes a chill-out zone in the middle of the forest, terraces designed to connect with the interior halls, a renovated pool that is connected to the cove, thus creating a new and unique access for our guests.

The interior has an eye-catching physical and visual connection to the exterior that runs all along the building perimeter, allowing guests to choose from the views of the cove or the open sea. The décor, inspired by the blending of the arts linked to the Costa Brava, creates a passage throughout the areas with a noteworthy presence of art. An unforgettable experience that returns Aiguablava to its former splendour that was once a source of inspiration for sculptors, painters, writers, photographers and filmmakers.

Environment

The exhibited works are a homage to the greatest exponents of contemporary Catalan art. These include pieces by outstanding artists such as Salvador Dalí, Rafael Durancamps, Antoni Clavé, Josep María Subirachs, Antoni Tápies and Joan Miró. Artists who are, in many cases, spokespersons for the international avant-garde, the forerunners and teachers of future generations who have opened up a broad international spectrum for Spanish contemporary art.

The surroundings of the Parador de Aiguablava offer a wide range of possibilities for all sorts of water sports, excursions and courses. Hiking is the best way to visit both the old town and the coves and forests, with several trails that enable you to discover places that would otherwise be inaccessible.

You can relax in its nearby coves, or go on a kayak excursion to the "d'en Gisbert" cave, float along the coast of Palamós in a vintage boat or visit medieval villages such as Pals or Peratallada. If you’re a fan of golf you can practice your favourite sport in the nearby greens of Golf Empordà and Golf de Pals and for novice golfers, at Gualta there is Pitch & Putt. If you’d like to explore the interior, we recommend a Segway tour. And for the most daring, there’s parachuting or a balloon ride.

The town of Begur, situated on the top of a hill, is only four kilometres away from the Parador. Its summit holds the main symbol of the town: its medieval castle. There also 19th-century houses built in the colonial indiano style. The Fira d’Indians fair is held on the first weekend of September when Begur revives memories of its indiano past. The Can Mario Museum, the Castle Fort of Peratallada, 12 kms away, and the Natural Reserve of Aiguamollos, 35 kms away, are some of many other options.

Coastal paths

The coastal paths or caminos de ronda are one of Begur's main and best-known attractions. Nowadays, they’re not just used to pass from cove to cove, but also as places to stroll while enjoying a landscape of incomparable beauty. Given its coastline, which is steep and full of cliffs, the coastal path of Begur is not an unbroken trail along 20 km of coastline, but is divided into 4 different sections.
