Information

The city of Hondarribia is a leading tourist attraction on the Cantabrian coast. The best way to explore is to stroll through its historic quarter from the Santa María Gate to the San Nicolás Gate, discovering its main street, its medieval layout and the rich heritage of churches, houses with balconies and the remains of its walls. It offers a wide range of leisure options, from the tranquillity of the beach to adventure on the mountains.

And if you are a golf lover, you can play golf on any of the two golf courses in the town. Nor should you miss Hondarribia’s cuisine, with its abundance of restaurants and pincho bars that more than match the rest of the province for quality.

Environment

The best way to explore it is to walk through its historic quarter, the best preserved in Guipúzcoa. Walk along its cobbled streets from the Puerta de Santa María to the Puerta de San Nicolás, its two entrances. Stroll along the Calle Mayor and the Plaza de Guipúzcoa, gaze at the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción and the Manzano and finish in the Marina neighbourhood sampling the city’s cuisine in the pincho bars and restaurants.

Hondarribia is a maritime destination, as evidenced by its beach and marina, one of the leading marinas in Guipúzcoa. The River Bidasoa runs along the coast of France, where we can visit the special town of Hendaye and discover the French Basque Country. You can do just that on one of the boat trips along the Bidasoa.

On the outskirts of the is the Playaundi ecological park in Irún, the Chillida Leku Museum in Hernani (10 km away) and the city of San Sebastián (20 km away). If you like adventure, Hondarribia gives you the chance to do water sports such as wakeboarding, flyboarding and jet skiing.

How to get there?

Hondarribia (former Fuenterrabía) is located 18 km away from San Sebastián/Donostia either on the N-1 or the A-8 motorway, towards the French border.

The historical nature of the building makes the pedestrian access to it present some difficulties. If you have any mobility problems, please contact the Parador where you will be informed about the best way to get there.
