The Parador follows in the footsteps of traditional Andalusian farmhouses with its large entrance and wooden roofs. The complex also has an outdoor swimming pool, garden, spacious lounges and bright rooms with views of the mountains. From its balconies you can look out on Cazorla, the main urban enclave of the mountain range. A beautiful village of white houses and steep streets topped by the Castillo de la Yedra, its main attraction. It’s the perfect starting point for hiking routes to the source of the Guadalquivir River.
If you’re into hunting game, whether for sport or for culinary purposes, you can indulge your passion here. The Parador is the ideal location for hiking or mountain bike trails across the mountains, to explore the source of the Guadalquivir river, find ancient yews and vulture colonies, enter into the Cave of Water, or explore the Roman remains in the nearby town of Peal de Becerro; and, of course, visit the town of Cazorla and its beautiful Castillo de la Yedra, the finishing touch to this stunning landscape of clustered houses at the foothills of this great mountain range.
The town of Cazorla is the main urban enclave within the mountain range. Its beautiful white houses and steep, narrow streets are an invitation to stroll around and discover its churches, squares and artistic monuments, topped by the Castillo de la Yedra. Set off from Cazorla on an expedition to discover the source of the Guadalquivir River, a route especially recommended for cycling enthusiasts.
Just 13 kilometres from Cazorla, in Peal de Becerro, is the burial site of Cámara Sepulcral Ibérica de Toya, a historical-artistic monument of great archaeological importance. Further ahead, just over 50 kilometres away, lie the cities of Úbeda and Baeza, whose Renaissance-era complexes have earned them the title of World Heritage Cities.
The cuisine of this area is also unforgettable. You can't leave Cazorla without tasting some torreznos (crispy fried bacon snacks) and andrajos stew, or typical dishes such as rin-ran, a cold dish of mashed potato and dried red pepper with olives and cod; and ajoharina, made with flour, garlic, peppers, potatoes and tomato.
